Eifelsteig

The Eifelsteig is perhaps the most famous trail in the Eifel. This 313-kilometer hiking trail is divided into 15 stages and shows you the best of what the Eifel has to offer.

Because the trail is excellently signposted and particularly varied, the Eifelsteig has received the designation “Premium Wanderwege.” So you are guaranteed to embark on a hike here that you won’t soon forget!

The starting point of the Eifelsteig is in Kornelimünster, a town near historic Aachen. The stages range from 14 to 29 kilometers and know how to surprise you every season. Along the way, you will be treated to waterfalls, caves, beautiful views, castles and reservoirs, among other things.

For culture enthusiasts, it certainly pays to explore beautiful Aachen and Trier (the starting and ending points of the Eifelsteig). But of course we must not forget Monschau itself!

Indeed, Monschau is the finishing point of the second stage and starting point of the third stage. Therefore, if you stay overnight in Monschau, chances are you will meet other hikers who are also walking the Eifelsteig.
